The 12th of May is International Nurses Day. Every year at this date we commemorate the crucial role that caregivers play in modern society. There will be activities within many caring institutions this day. Nurses and care givers will show how passionate they are about healthcare and well-being. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) determines a theme every year for this day. This year the theme will be: “Nurses: A voice to lead – Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”.
Why the 12th of May? On the 12th of May 1820 Florence Nightingale was born; the founder of modern healthcare. She was not just a nurse, but also founded the first ever nursing school in 1856.
This day is dedicated to the continued improvement of modern healthcare quality. The growing intensity of healthcare demands, presents new challenges for caregivers in upcoming years. We try to help with this by means of technology, but care will always rely on the human touch. We wish all the caregivers a great day and we hope that they receive the recognition they deserve for their hard work.
